LIVESTOCK AUCTION, INC.
Friday February 9th, 2018
Ain't it great to be in the Midwest?! The answer is yes on nearly all accounts. Yesterday the weather was predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow with isolated amounts higher. We debated about having today's sale . . . should we, or shouldn't we? As the weather turned out right here at Manchester about 4" of snow and it was done snowing @ 2:00 AM. By daylight the main roads/highways were "good to go" ..... but not everyone with livestock lives on main hard surface roads and I can well imagine even late this afternoon the farm yards are still being dug out.
Certainly our run was smaller (that was expected) and due to seasonal breeding cycles of sheep even some of the big auctions are small so we knew the sheep offering would be nonexistent.
Dairy Sale continued the trend of the past several months - - - hard to talk someone into buying more so they can take them home and lose more. At a critical time I cannot remember when the dairy market has been this depressed.
